Two Options – Which Is Right for You?

Text Engraving  – Your pet’s name and your contact details engraved on the tag. You can include a name, phone number, address, and a short message. This is the practical option – everything a finder needs to get your pet home safely.

Text and Photo Engraving  – Everything above, plus a laser engraved image of your pet on the tag. This turns a functional ID tag into something genuinely personal – a miniature portrait of your dog or cat that they carry with them everywhere. After ordering, contact us to send your photo and we will handle the rest.

Why Laser Engraving?

Printed or stamped pet tags fade, scratch, and become illegible over time – often within months of daily use. Laser engraving cuts the text and image permanently into the surface of the stainless steel. It cannot peel, fade, or rub off. A laser engraved tag will still be clearly readable years from now, which matters when it’s the thing standing between a lost pet and getting home.

Dog ID Tags and UK Law

Under the Control of Dogs Order 1992, all dogs in public places in England, Scotland, and Wales must wear a collar with an ID tag showing the owner’s name and address. A phone number is not legally required but is strongly recommended. This tag fulfils that requirement – engrave your surname and address as a minimum, and add a contact number for the fastest response if your dog is found.

Cats are not currently covered by the same legal requirement, but an ID tag remains the fastest way to get a lost cat home – microchipping alone relies on a scanner being available.

How to Send Your Photo

For the text and photo option: place your order and enter your text at checkout as normal. After ordering, email us at info@keyringking.co.uk with your order number and attach the photo you would like engraved. A clear, well-lit photo with good contrast works best – close-up portraits of your pet’s face tend to engrave most effectively. We will confirm receipt and let you know if any adjustments are needed before engraving.
