Nickel-Plated Shotgun Base Caps – 5 Pack

These are the same silver base caps as our silver 10 pack, in a smaller quantity. They suit a one-off piece, a gift you are making for a shooter, or a first try with silver before you commit to a bigger pack.

Where They Come From

Every cap starts life as a once-fired 12 gauge cartridge. The metal head is removed from the plastic hull and cleaned before packing. The headstamp – the maker’s name and gauge pressed into the base – stays visible, so expect a mix of brands in each pack.

Working With Nickel-Plated Caps

The plating gives a bright silver finish that stands out well against dark or coloured resin. Plated metal is smoother than bare brass, so lightly scuff the back with fine sandpaper before gluing to give epoxy something to grip. If you are drilling for a jump ring, use a small bit and go slowly – the head is solid metal.
