Brass Shotgun Base Caps – 10 Pack
This is the larger pack of our gold brass base caps. If you are making more than one or two pieces, or want spares so you can pick the best headstamps, ten caps give you room to work. For a single small project, the 5 pack is the same cap in a smaller quantity.
Picking and Matching Caps
Each cap comes from a different fired cartridge, so you get a mix of makers and headstamps in every pack. Lay them out before you start and group them by brand or tone – it is much easier to make a matching set when you have ten to choose from.
Keeping Brass Bright
Brass darkens over time when it is left in the open air. To keep the gold tone on a magnet or keyring, polish the cap and seal it with a clear lacquer. Caps set fully inside resin are sealed off and hold their colour.

Q: Is this the same as the 5 pack? Yes – same caps and finish, twice the quantity.
Q: Will the brass tarnish? Over time, yes, if it is left exposed. Polish and seal with a clear lacquer, or set the caps in resin, to keep the colour.
Q: Are they safe to carry? Yes. They are inert – the cartridges have been fired and nothing live remains. Always check with your airline before travelling abroad with this item.
Q: Can I drill them? Yes. Clamp the cap, use a small bit and go slowly – the head is solid metal.
